| As
the millennium draws to a close, we all need to be prepared for the 21st
century. Some experts expect the problems of Y2K to continue well into
the year 2000. The Year 2000 (Y2K) computer bug is a very real concern. I urge you to concern yourself with your readiness for the coming new year. Please know that we are prepared to address, explore and solve your computer related Y2K issues with you. What is the Y2K bug? In a nutshell, the Y2K problem is such that some computer hardware and software programs are not prepared to process with the correct date beginning 1/1/2000. At one time, computer memory was very expensive. A decision was made to save millions of dollars by eliminating two bytes of storage. Some computer systems, both hardware and software, cannot process a four digit year and simply assume that the first two digits are "1" and "9." For example, if your computer hardware is not Y2K compliant, then the system will report the date to be 1/1/1900 and the computer will assume it to be 1/1/1980! Sound confusing? Welcome to the millennium!
Software manufacturers have been hard at work on the problem and most have solutions available. Whatever your concerns, big or small, we can help you solve them. |
